Guilty Pleasure: He’s a Rebel

Out of a sense of honesty and a sick joy I get from being embarrassed, I’m going to make a few posts about some of my guilty pleasure music, movies, etc. The first of these is the song “He’s a Rebel”. It was released in 1962 and is credited to The Chrystals, even though it was recorded by a group called The Blossoms. Phil Spector produced this song some time before he killed his wife and gave the credit to the wrong group. I guess it was a whole thing. The song is about the chick being in love with a Rebel, but who claims he’s actually sweet. My own take on what makes this so cool is that she is deciding she wants to be with him despite what anyone else says. So who’s really the rebel, the rebel or the rebel who loves him?
