Nowhere Girl

Artist Justine Shaw created this fantastic comic about the troubles of youth and being a social outcast in more ways than one. Autobiographical? I have no idea, but it’s definitely worth scoping out. The comic is incomplete as Justine is working on some other projects and getting paid, but the couple episodes up there are pretty dang good. Coolest thing about it is she’s arranged the artwork to be read at 1024 x 768 resolution, so there is no scrolling involved. Check it out here:

Enjoy.

Freak Angels

One of my favorite comic book writers, Warren Ellis, has been writing and publishing an online comic that you can read and enjoy entirely free of charge. The story is about a post-apocalyptic England that is surviving only with the help of the mysterious kids that caused the Apocalypse themselves. The art by Paul Duffield is amazing too… very tastefully done and interestingly arranged.

You can find the comic here:

And if you’re into the whole “buying comics” thing, check out Warren Ellis’ “Transmetropolitan”. It’s one of my favorite series and it’s about a bad-ass journalist in the future named Spider Jerusalem. Spider writes about the collapse of society and individual freedoms. Sound applicable to the world? If you’re not already enticed, Spider’s column is called, “I Hate it Here.”

Read and enjoy.
