No, not the Molly Shannon movie based on the Saturday Night Live sketch that you sat through so you could see Weekend Update. I’m talking about the song by the Carpenters. Or rather performed by the Carpenters. Apparently it was written by someone else and perfromed by everyone else. Let’s not forget the kickass Sonic Youth version. But you can go find that yourself. This one is the original and best… er, best anyway. Nobody could sing sweeter than Karen Carpenter. She just wasn’t encumbered with all that weight that keeps other singers from sounding as pure as possible. Anyway, listen and enjoy!
